BRADENTON, FL — Marine units from several law enforcement agencies joined the Bradenton Police Department Monday in honoring an officer who died from cancer last year by creating an Eternal Reef.

Sgt. Lee Cosens, 39, died in April after battling metastatic kidney cancer.

Following the placement of the reef, eight marine patrol boats performed a version of the “missing man formation fly-by,” Bradenton police wrote in a Facebook post. “We are grateful to our partners who helped make the day special for Sgt. Cosens' wife and two little girls.”
