On Thursday, May 12, Kathleen D Sailing Catamaran will welcome the Bluegrass band State Road 64 for a special performance on board during their weekly sunset cruise from the Seafood Shack in Cortez. Guests can enjoy vintage and contemporary bluegrass and country tunes while watching a spectacular Gulf of Mexico sunset as the Kathleen D sails along the beaches of Anna Maria Island and Longboat Key.
State Road 64, whose name derives from a local road that members travel along to get together for practices and concerts, is a five piece acoustic bluegrass band featuring accomplished musicians from around the country, all of whom have brought their talents to Southwest Florida’s music scene in recent years. The band was originally formed by Anna Maria resident Howard Bard in 2009, when they played their first concert for the Anna Maria Island ARTShop event. Today, State Road 64 is comprised of Howard on banjo, mandolin, and vocals; Rusty Moore on guitar and vocals; Will Corr on fiddle, mandolin, and vocals; Tom Busch on bass, dobro, and vocals; and Frank Popovics on fiddle. The band currently plays at several Anna Maria and Bradenton venues, as well as bluegrass festivals and events throughout the Tampa Bay area.
The captain and crew of Kathleen D Sailing Catamaran look forward to hosting State Road 64 for their first “floating concert”. The Kathleen D continues to provide the ultimate in safety, comfort and style for her customers and is United States Coast Guard inspected and certified for twenty passengers.
