Festival of the Skeletons

If you can't make it to Mexico, then Bradenton's Village of the Arts is the place to celebrate Dia de lost Muertos (Day of the Dead). Renamed "Festival of the Skeletons" in Bradenton, organizer Zoe Von Averkamp says the celebration will take place during the monthly ArtWalk.

Shrine preparation bgins on Friday morning using fresh flowers, fruit and chili peppers. The main shrine will be at the corner of 12th Street and 11 Avenue West. It will be dedicated to "the King," Elvis Presley.

The event is used to pay homage to the deceased. There is no charge for the celebration.
