You’ve seen it on Broadway, you’ve seen it at the movies, so now it’s time to see it in your home theatre. The Manatee Players reprise this show set in prohibition era Chicago, a satire on corruption in the administration of criminal justice, and the concept of the "celebrity criminal." The original show, debuted in 1975, recorded 936 performances on Broadway, and the 1996 revival maintains the record for the longest running musical revival on a Broadway stage. The musical is based on a 1926 play of the same name by reporter Maurine Dallas Watkins about actual criminals and crimes she had reported on during her tenure as a reporter.
