Free Jazz Concert, Battle of the Big Bands and Picnic at SCF

The Jazz Program at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) is sponsoring a free concert, battle of the big bands and picnic 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 12 in the Performance Pavilion at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W. Attendees should bring blankets, chairs and lunch for the outdoor concert featuring jazz from the SCF Big Band and local high school musicians. Food also will be available for purchase in the nearby SCF Student Union.

SCF’s Big Band will perform music by Wynton Marsalis, Harry Connick Jr. and Horace Silver. Other participating jazz bands are from Bayshore, Braden River and Lakewood Ranch High Schools. Each band will play their three best numbers.
