Free Lecture Allows Public to Explore Celtic Spirituality with SCF’s Green Team
SCF will host a free public lecture on Celtic spirituality at 10 a.m. Oct. 27 in the Selby Room, Building 800 at SCF Venice.

State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will host a free public lecture on Celtic Spirituality spirituality at 10 a.m. Oct. 27 in the Selby Room, building Building 800 at SCF Venice, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail. Rev. Don Wilson of the United Church of Christ in Venice will lead the lecture, “Overcoming Your Fear of Paganism: Celtic Spirituality as Eco-Spirituality.”
Wilson has done extensive research on Ancient ancient Gnosticism and the earth-embracing Celtic Spirituality spirituality of Ancient ancient Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and Northumbria. He has studied with the Celtic revival leader John Nuell, , a recent leader from the Iona Community in Scotland. He Wilson will demonstrate discuss how much there is to learn from an ecological spirituality. His talk will and emphasize the value of seasonal festivals that mark the rhythms of earth and sky. Celtic spirituality is one example of an original primordial connection to nature and its source.
Led by Woody McCree, associate professor, art, design, humanities, and Green Team chair, the SCF Green Team is a group of students, faculty and staff who work in collaboration to design and implement projects that maintain the natural beauty and the environmental significance of SCF Venice as part of its mission of sustainability.
