Gator Attacks 77-Year-Old Woman In Lakewood Ranch: FWC
A woman was bitten by an alligator near a pond in a gated Lakewood Ranch community, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said.
LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL — A gator attacked a 77-year-old woman near a pond in a gated Lakewood Ranch community Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
The woman was bitten around 6 p.m. at 16832 Ellsworth Ave. in Bradenton, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).
The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office and Manatee County EMS responded to the scene.

The victim was brought to a nearby hospital to be treated for her injuries, FWC said.

A nuisance alligator trapper was sent to the area, where he removed a 7 foot, 10 inches long gator, the agency said.
A witness to the attack kept an eye on the alligator until it was captured, FWC said. There were no other alligators in the area fitting the size and description of the gator that bit the woman.
