Why are you seeking this office?
Better is possible. Our kids deserve leadership that will unite us all and not divide. Having served several terms within the legislative branch I wanted to utilize my education and skill set as a member of the Manatee County School Board.

Over the last year it became apparent that the needs of all sectors of our community were not considered as important by the Manatee County School Board. The importance of addressing the equity gaps that exists so that all students have an equal opportunity to learn. The commitment to public services applies throughout the entire school district.

It is my dream that our school system will become more inclusive with all residents and not just some. I have the education, experience and the competence to lead. We need a transition leader that will change the old ways of doing to a more professional direction for the betterment of all our citizens.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

For the first time in Manatee County only the voters in District 2 will be able to elect their representative. The major difference is our diverse education, experience and decades of community and public service in District 2. We are District 2!

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

    • Student health and safety
    • Teacher and support staff recruitment and retention
    • Local control in education
    • Advocate better financial communication
    • Transparency
    • Reading disparity
    • Equal and fair treatment

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

During the economic downturn, I had the opportunity to represent a city with manageable growth, strong law enforcement and public safety with reasonable taxes. During that time while on the city council, tough decisions were made and Bradenton remained financially sound. Over the last 2 years similar difficult decisions dealing with COVID-19 had to be made. While there have been many accomplishments that can mentioned, dealing with adversity as a seasoned legislator best demonstrates my ability to handle this job.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

Do what is right and you will never be wrong.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

The only candidate that attended and graduated entirely from schools located in Manatee County School District 2.
