Hours-Long Standoff With Man Who Attacked His Stepfather Ends: Bradenton Police
An armed man accused of attacking his stepfather was arrested after an hours-long standoff with law enforcement, Bradenton police said.

BRADENTON, FL — An hours-long standoff with an armed man accused of attacking his 87-year-old stepfather ended peacefully Monday morning, Bradenton police said in a news release.
Officers responded to a domestic incident involving Christopher Liebeck at a home in the Braden Castle Park neighborhood.
Liebeck lives there with his stepfather, who called 911 from a neighbor’s home to report his stepson has physically attacked him, threatened to hurt others, had taken his phone, and owned multiple firearms, police said.

After the victim agreed to stay with a neighbor, police secured arrest warrants for Liebeck, who refused to leave their home, prompting the standoff.
The Hostage Negotiation Team contacted Liebeck as drones monitored the home and the SWAT team was staged nearby. The Manatee County Sheriff's Office K9 and SWAT teams also responded to the scene.

After several conversations, he agreed to surrender, police said. He was charged with aggravated assault, battery on a person 65 or older, and deprivation of 911.
