Lakewood Ranch wins the state's top scholar-athlete award for the seventh straight year

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) athletes are the 2016-17 Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Academic Team Champions.

This is the Mustangs’ seventh straight academic championship.

Rankings are based on the collective grade point averages (GPA) of each of a school’s athletes.

LHRS athletic director Shawn Trent said, “Thank you coaches for pushing your athletes and making them understand this is important. Thank you to all the teachers that go out of your way to help our athletes on a daily basis. This is a phenomenal award to win one time, and thanks to all of you and some pretty intelligent athletes we have done it seven times in a row.”
