LRHS English teacher Stephanie Kobetitsch, required her students to participate.
She shared, “This is the first year that there are different categories. In the past, it was strictly a speech/essay contest.”

Nine Mustangs were named finalists in the contest.

“I know it's motivating for students to be selected as a finalist, and this has a great impact on their future participation in contests in general. The Palmetto Youth Center does a great job of honoring local students,” said Kobetitsch.

Kobetitsch hoped that “Students have a greater understanding of MLK influence and the impact he's had on society” through participating in this event.
