“The Degree is a summary of their SAE projects (Supervised agricultural Experience) where many of them have served their community, raised and sold livestock, or worked in agricultural fields,” she said. “These students then complete an application and submit requirements to achieve this degree.”

Gorskey added that students who apply for the degree can get help from their teachers and from the FFA, but their success is ultimately up to them.

She also stated the recognition can mean real benefits to recipients.

“Students benefit by providing the years of work to not only make a well-rounded individual but also to utilize in their next chapter after high school as they can either pursue an American FFA Degree, or use it to boost career opportunities,” she said.
