Local animals could use students' help

The generosity of the holiday season can extend to four-legged residents

Mary Eschmann - Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH FL) - Local students who want to get into the holiday spirit while serving the community can donate to local animal shelters in need.

Donte's Den, Nate's Honor Animal Rescue, and Cat Depot are all shelters that could use donations to help animals this holiday season.

Donte's Den is a private foundation. Because of this, all the money donated directly benefits the dogs. They have a donation page on their website.

They also created a program that allows people to sponsor a dog. Anyone unable to adopt a dog can donate monthly and the money goes to help provide food, dental, and veterinary care for his or her chosen pup. The website describes this as "Promising them a life loved no matter where they call home."

Donte's Den is also hoping to get enough money to open up more dens for the dogs. The more people give, the closer they get to helping more dogs by giving them a loving and home-like environment.

Nate's Honor Rescue has not only a section on their website for money donations but also has a wish list and a page that explains that if you buy from AmazonSmile they will donate to the rescue.

Cat Depot has created e-cards people can send for a $15 donation to the organization. On their website they have a page explaining how donations help the cats and how people can donate.

Like Nate's they also have a wish list that includes things like cat food and litter. Along with a wish list they also include a list of items that they do not need.

Mustangs who would like to donate today can go to any of their websites to make a donation.
