Local sisters start effort to fight blood cancer

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) - A pair of Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) sisters are working to raise money for blood cancer and research through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).

Sophomore Faith Finnegan explained how the club plans to reach these goals by the designated time.

“We have a contact list with a lot of people, and we like to team up with lots of companies for fundraising. We do give-back nights and are also sponsored by lots of companies.”

Her sister, Sophia Finnegan, shared her connection with LLS.

“Despite not having any personal connections, I really feel for people who deal with Leukemia since it’s such a hard thing to manage. Being in this club lets me help people who need it.”

Starting this year, LRHS has an LLS club. This club is focused on fundraising for research to cure blood cancer.

From Jan. 24 - March 14, each member of the club has a personal goal of raising at least $500.

All proceeds earned from these fundraising events will go directly towards blood cancer research.

The fundraising for LLS will continue through the whole school year, with the club being active on social media with new posts and fundraising updates.
