(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)-As I looked at my computer, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

“This is crazy.”

If you haven’t been accepted into your dream college yet, then these are the emotion you can look forward to. These were my first thoughts as I looked at the computer and it told me “Congratulations.”

I had just gotten accepted into my first-choice college, Stetson University.

“Wait…I have to call my mom…. then I have to call my dad.

“I’m freaking out.

“I’m not sure how this is happening, I never thought this would happen.

“I’m starting at the screen and I’m still not really believing its real.”

I’m so relieved that my future is no longer in the air and now there is no question and I can go where I want. I was so scared that I would have to go to my second-choice school and that was something I really didn’t want. Now that I don’t, I am so happy and proud and relived and a lot of different emotions.

I had watched my senior friends go through this last year and I dreaded it, but now that I’m here it has all been worth it. It still feels unreal and I think getting the official papers will make it feel absolute. I cannot wait to watch all my friends go through this, so we can all be proud together.

How? It really is the question, I had done well in school and done a few clubs, but I didn’t think that I would be anything special and here I am getting into my dream college on my own.
In my mind getting into Stetson was an unattainable goal and I have never felt better about proving myself wrong.

There are so many emotions involved in getting accepted and it is hard to put into words. I can promise any students that are nervous about college acceptances that these feelings are an amazing experience.

High school takes a lot of work, but the outcome is worth it. Nothing is out of reach if you really want it, getting into your dream school doesn’t have to be a dream. It is possible. You can do it. Go for it!
