(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) - Last week, Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) band student Connor Engelsberg participated in Florida Music Educators Association's (FMEA’s) All-State Honor Band. After auditioning, he placed first chair (principal) French horn out of 10 total French horn players.

First chair not only meant that Engelsberg was the best player in his section, but also that he was the leader and would play solo parts if there was one.

All-State is a very competitive and challenging honor band that requires a lot of talent, diligence, and understanding of the audition process.

Engelsberg said, “All-state is an honor band where musicians from all over the state get together and audition to play together in one venue.”

He said that it was also a fun experience.

Engelsberg has been playing the French horn for seven years, but he does not plan to go to college for music.

“I do plan to pursue it in college as an extra-curricular, but not a career,” Engelsberg said.
