Local students help fight cancer

Lakewood Ranch High School students are working at Saturday's "Making Strides" event

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) clubs and teams will be attending “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” walk this Saturday to volunteer and encourage breast cancer survivors.

Making Strides is an organization that raises money to help fund the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) breast cancer research. They also help provide services like free rides to chemotherapy sessions, a free place to stay near treatments and a cancer helpline.

The Making Strides website stated, “The American Cancer Society started Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk to unites communities in the fight against this deadly disease. Today, Making Strides is the largest network of breast cancer events in the nation- and we do more than just walk.”

The following clubs and teams will be attending this walk to support those who fought and are fighting breast cancer:

The Stars attend this walk every year to perform their routines and cheer on the survivors.
Senior Star Delaney Martin said, “I am so excited to attend this walk with my team to cheer on the survivors and help the community.”

National Honor Society (NHS) President Dakota Holler, senior, said, “National Honor society is very fortunate to have the opportunity to support this organization and event and we cannot wait.”
