Man Dies From Injuries 5 Days After Anna Maria Bridge Pile-Up: FHP
A Palmetto man died from his injuries days after a three-car pile-up on Anna Maria Bridge, Florida Highway Patrol said.
HOLMES BEACH, FL — A Palmetto man died days after an April 12 three-car pile-up on Anna Maria Bridge, according to a news release from Florida Highway Patrol.
The 59-year-old man, a passenger in one of the cars involved, died April 17. The driver of the car he was in, a 47-year-old Palmetto woman, was uninjured in the crash.
While driving west on State Road 64 over Anna Maria Bridge around 4 p.m. on April 12, the woman failed to stop when other vehicles ahead of hers stopped for traffic congestion, FHP said.

She crashed into the back of an SUV driven by a 74-year-old Michigan man. This forced his car to hit the rear of the SUV in front of him, which was driven by a 17-year-old Bradenton girl.
The Palmetto man was brought to Blake Medical Center, where he later died, in serious condition.

The teen suffered minor injuries in the crash, while the Michigan man and his passenger, a 48-year-old Michigan woman, were uninjured.
The crash remains under investigation, FHP said.
