Man Shot, Killed In Palmetto: Manatee County Sheriff’s Office

After being shot during an argument, a man drove himself to a Palmetto home a mile away, where he later died, the sheriff's office said.

PALMETTO, FL — A 21-year-old man was killed in a Palmetto shooting early Monday morning, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office news release.

He was found unresponsive and lying in the driveway of a home in the 2800 block of 7th Avenue E. with at least one gunshot wound around 3:30 a.m., the agency said. First responders performed CPR on him, but he died a few minutes later.

A witness told deputies that the victim was shot during an argument with another man about a mile away and then drove himself to the house, where he collapsed, the sheriff’s office said.

Detectives with the Manatee Homicide Investigative Unit have several leads and are looking for the suspected shooter.

This is an isolated incident, MCSO said. It’s believed the victim and the suspect were acquaintances.
