Watch: Manatee County Deputy Uninjured After Jumping From SUV’s Path During Traffic Stop
A Manatee County Sheriff's Office deputy walked away uninjured after he was nearly hit by an out-of-control SUV during a traffic stop.
MANATEE COUNTY, FL — After a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office deputy was nearly hit by an SUV during a traffic stop, the agency is reminding drivers to move over a lane for stopped law enforcement, emergency, utility and other vehicles.
The sheriff’s office shared the deputy’s body camera footage from the recent incident on Facebook Tuesday. (Watch the video below.)
The deputy was standing near his patrol vehicle during a traffic stop when he heard the screeching of vehicle tires in the lane next to him, MCSO said.

When he looked up, he saw an out-of-control SUV heading in his direction. The deputy jumped and rolled out of the way, and the SUV spun around, coming to a rest next to him, the sheriff’s office said.
The “incredibly lucky” deputy walked away without any injuries, MCSO said. “Please, stay alert and move over a lane for emergency vehicles on the side of the road.”
