Manatee Jail Escapee Captured

Meren Thompson’s days on the run are over.

The 43-year-old walked away from the inmate farm around 2:30 p.m. Nov. 23 and was believed to have stolen a blue 1997 Ford F150 with a Vermont tag in Hillsborough County a short time later.

Thompson managed to avoid capture until this past weekend. Police in Sanford arrested him on Saturday. He now faces an escape charge in Manatee and a carjacking charge in Hillsborough, The Tampa Tribune reported.
