Manatee Wrestling Club Takes Second At Wellington Duals

Local youth wrestlers finish runner-up behind powerhouse Brandon.

The Manatee Kids Wrestling Club was the runner-up in last Saturday's Wellington Duals youth tournament in Wellington.

The tournament featured representatives of 12 of the top youth wrestling programs in the state. The Manatee team lost only to national wrestling powerhouse Brandon.

Manatee's squad defeated rival Fort Myers Riverdale in the final dual of the day, clinching the win after eighth-grader and team captain Jesse Fulk pinned his opponent. Angelo DeDona, Jack Marble and Marquise Faison also scored big wins to help Manatee secure the second-place team trophy.

The Manatee wrestlers will be competing the USA Wrestling State Championships this weekend in Kissimmee. They will also be competing locally March 26 in the Hurricane Challenge at Manatee High School. Visit www.manateewrestling.com for more details.
