McGuire And Crew Go Deep for Amberjack

Capt. Larry McGuire gives an offshore fishing report for waters off Anna Maria Island.

Capt. Larry McGuire of Show Me the Fish Charters out of reported success on amberjack, cobia and snapper — even some blacktip shark — offshore off Anna Maria Island in about 120 feet using large pinfish and sardines.

He said closer in the Spanish mackerel and sheepshead bite is going strong along the beaches and local piers.

"Which is a great backup plan if you can't head far offshore on the windy days," he said. "While fishing closer in be ready for the kingfish invasion. I heard last week that they were catching them off Fort Myers. As soon as the bait schools show up the big macks will be there along with cobia and big sharks."

McGuire plans on  heading out to about 160 feet this week, pending good weather, and going for the gold for big boys out deep.
