Missing Man Found Dead Near Pond: Manatee County Sheriff's Office

A man with dementia who has been missing since May 17 was found dead along the bank of a Bradenton pond, the Manatee sheriff's office said.

BRADENTON, FL — A 79-year-old man with dementia who has been missing more more than a week was found dead Friday morning along the bank of a Bradenton pond, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Frederick Bacon’s body was found not far from where he was last seen the night of May 17, when he walked away from a home where he had been staying in the 4900 block of 32nd Street East in Bradenton.

While detectives are investigating his death, “foul play is not suspected,” the sheriff’s office said. “His death appears to be accidental.”
