Motorcyclist Hit, Killed By Van On U.S. 41: FL Highway Patrol

Weeks after being hit by a van on U.S. 41 in Bradenton, a motorcyclist died Sunday from her injuries at Blake Medical Center, FHP said.

BRADENTON, FL — A motorcyclist was hit by van at the intersection of U.S. 41 and 21st Street E. in Bradenton on March 4 and died from her injuries weeks later, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

Around 6:30 a.m. on March 4, the van, which was driven by a 22-year-old Palmetto woman and had six passengers, stopped on 21st Street East at a stop sign for U.S. 41.

At the same time, the motorcyclist, a 54-year-old woman from Seminole, Florida was traveling south on U.S. 41, approaching 21st Street E.

The van moved into the intersection, entering the path of the motorcycle, FHP said. The motorcyclist hit the van’s right side and then rotated, overturned and came to a stop in U.S. 41’s southbound lane.

The motorcyclist was brought to an area hospital in critical condition. More than two weeks after the accident, on Sunday, she was pronounced deceased at Blake Medical Center, FHP said.

The crash remains under investigation.
