Bradenton murder investigation: Man charged after woman found dead, deputies say (fox13news.com) — Bradenton residents should know that deputies are investigating a homicide after a woman was found dead late Thursday night outside a building on the 5100 block of 14th Street West. A 64-year-old man, Rodney Booth, was detained at the scene and now faces murder charges, while detectives continue gathering information and ask anyone with tips to contact the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
   

2. Video shows Bradenton officers, boater rescue man from Manatee River, police say (bradenton.com) — Bradenton police officers and a quick-thinking civilian boater teamed up to rescue a man who had been yelling for help for at least an hour in the Manatee River near Riverside Drive East. Working with the Manatee County Sheriff's aviation unit, officers located him in the dark, coaxed him aboard the boat, and had paramedics take him to a hospital for evaluation.
   

3. This Week in Local Government: 9/20/26 (thebradentontimes.com) — Bradenton residents have a busy week of public meetings ahead, starting Tuesday with a Manatee County Commission session at the downtown County Administrative Center. Wednesday brings a Bradenton City Council meeting and a second city budget hearing, followed Thursday by a joint county–Longboat Key meeting and the county's second budget hearing, all open to the public.
   

4. Did Manatee County fire its Code Enforcement Chief? (thebradentontimes.com) — Manatee County's Code Enforcement Chief, Tom Wooten, is no longer employed by the county, and officials are refusing to say whether he resigned or was fired, leaving leadership of the division unclear. The shake-up follows years of scrutiny, investigations, and repeated reorganizations of code enforcement that directly affect how neighborhood complaints and violations are handled for Bradenton-area residents.
   

5. Flood advisory in place for Manatee and Sarasota counties Saturday evening (tampabay.com) — Bradenton and nearby communities, including South and West Bradenton, were under a flood advisory Saturday evening, with the National Weather Service warning of possible flooding and hazardous driving. The alert explains the differences between flood watches, advisories and warnings, and offers practical safety steps like moving to higher ground, avoiding flooded roads, and staying alert for fast-rising water during heavy rain.
