Pedestrian Dies In Manatee County, Hit-And-Run Driver Sought: DOJ
Troopers are seeking a hit-and-run driver after a pedestrian was hit by two vehicles while crossing U.S. 301, Florida Highway Patrol said.
MANATEE COUNTY, FL — A hit-and-run driver is sought in Manatee County after a man was killed trying to cross U.S. 301 early Friday morning, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.
Just after 12:30 a.m., an unidentified vehicle and an SUV were both traveling west on U.S. 301 near I-75.
After hitting the man as he tried to cross the U.S. 301 travel lanes, the first vehicle drove away from the scene.

The SUV, driven by a 30-year-old Coral Springs man, also hit the pedestrian.
The man, who hasn’t been identified, was brought to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Troopers are seeking the hit-and-run driver of the initial vehicle that left the scene. Not much is known about this vehicle, but authorities say it was possibly blue.
The crash remains under consideration.
