YESTERDAY AT CAMP (FEB. 23):

  • The Pittsburgh Pirates' final full-day workout at went from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Wednesday under sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-70s.
  • Right-hander Jose Ascanio missed the action on the field due to tightness in his right elbow. His status is day to day.
  • Third baseman Pedro Alvarez participated in the workout on a limited basis.
  • Wednesday’s team fundamental was the pop up priority.
  • Wednesday also marked the final day that pitchers would be throwing to hitters at Pirate City.
  • The Manatee High baseball team from the major leaguers Wednesday afternoon.
  • Manager Clint Hurdle for Friday's exhibition game against the State College of Florida. The game, expected to start at 12:05 p.m. and last seven innings in length, will be broadcast on the SCF website.
  • Right-hander Charlie Morton is scheduled to start the official Grapefruit League opener Saturday against the Tampa Bay Rays in Port Charlotte.

TODAY AT CAMP (FEB. 24):

With the fourth annual Pirates Charities Golf Classic outing scheduled for Thursday afternoon, today's workout is expected to end by 11:30 a.m.
