Garrett Atkins went deep for the first time this spring, blasting a three-run homer in the fourth inning that helped propel Pittsburgh's split squad to a win over Tampa Bay in Port Charlotte.

Rudy Owens, the Pirates' 2009-10 Minor League Pitcher of the Year, picked up the win in relief in the third meeting between the two clubs in as many days.

The New York Yankees will visit the Pirates at 1:05 p.m. Tuesday in Bradenton. James McDonald is expected to start for Pittsburgh against New York’s Phil Hughes. Daniel McCutchen, Chris Resop, Daniel Moskos and Ramon Aguero are also scheduled to pitch for the Pirates.
