Pirates closer Joel Hanrahan surrendered four earned runs on five hits in an inning of work as Pittsburgh lost 11-8 to the Baltimore Orioles under the lights Thursday at McKechnie Field.
Starter Paul Maholm allowed one earned run, a second-inning homer by Baltimore's Vladimir Guerrero, and scattered four hits over four innings.

The Pirates visit the Tampa Bay Rays in Port Charlotte at 1:05 p.m. Friday. James McDonald is expected to start for Pittsburgh against Tampa Bay right-hander Wade Davis. Brian Burres, Daniel Moskos, Justin Thomas and Chris Leroux are also expected to take the mound for the Pirates.
