PIRATES 9, RED SOX 4:
John Bowker and Ronny Cedeno hit solo home runs, and Pedro Alvarez doubled and knocked in two runs as the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Boston Red Sox 9-4 on Sunday afternoon before 6,602 fans, the largest crowd in McKechnie Field's history.
Lyle Overbay had a two-run single for the Pirates (8-10), extended his hitting streak to seven games this spring. Jeff Karstens picked up the win in relief.

Lars Anderson and Darnell McDonald homered for the Red Sox (9-10-1). Starter Josh Becket took the loss for Boston.

The Pirates travel to Sarasota to take on the Baltimore Orioles at 1:05 p.m. Monday at Ed Smith Stadium. Kevin Correia is expected to start for Pittsburgh against Baltimore’s Jake Arietta. Evan Meek, Joe Beimel and Scott Olsen are also scheduled to pitch for the Pirates.
