Neil Walker hit a solo home run, and Andrew McCutchen and Jose Tabata each went 2-for-3 in the Pittsburgh Pirates' 5-3 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays before 6,315 fans at McKechnie Field.
Starter Paul Maholm surrendered four earned runs on five hits over five innings on the hill for the Pirates (8-12).

The Pirates host the Baltimore Orioles at 1:05 p.m. Thursday in Bradenton. Ross Ohlendorf is scheduled to start for Pittsburgh against Baltimore’s Chris Tillman. Joe Beimel, Scott Olsen and Sean Gallagher are also expected to pitch for the the Pirates. Members of the rock band REO Speedwagon will throw out the first pitch.
Pittsburgh will also play an intrasquad game at 10 a.m. Thursday at Pirate City in which Brian Burres, Tyler Yates, Fernando Nieve, Jeff Karstens and Evan Meek are scheduled to throw.
