Pedro Ciriaco hit a run-scoring double, and Josh Fields knocked in a run on a sacrifice fly as Pittsburgh blanked New York 2-0 before a crowd of 5,729 at McKechnie Field.

Starter James McDonald allowed two hits in two innings of work, and Daniel McCutchen picked up the win with two innings of scoreless relief for the Pirates (3-2).

The Yankees brought starters Jorge Posada, Brett Gardner and Curtis Granderson down to Bradenton, along with starting pitcher Phil Hughes.

The Pirates host the Minnesota Twins at 1:05 p.m. Wednesday. Ross Ohlendorf is expected to start for Pittsburgh against Minnesota’s Brian Duensing. Tony Watson, Joel Hanrahan, Jose Veras, Mike Crotta and Chris Leroux are also scheduled to pitch for the Pirates.
