Paul Maholm allowed nine hits over six innings with two earned runs, but the Pittsburgh Pirates offense mustered just six hits in a 4-1 loss to the Minnesota Twins on Monday before 5,902 fans at McKechnie Field.
Andrew McCutchen went 1-for-3 from the leadoff spot and has now reached base safely in 12 games for the Pirates (10-15).
