Starter James McDonald allowed two earned runs on four hits over 2 1/3 innings as the Pittsburgh Pirates were blanked Sunday by the Toronto Blue Jays 5-0 before 4,668 fans at McKechnie Field.

Pedro Alvarez played the first six innings at third base for the Pirates (5-5) and went 2-for-3, raising his average to .350 (7-for-20) in seven games this spring.

Ricky Romero earned the win for Toronto (4-5).

Sunday's game is scheduled to air on tape delay on the MLB Network at 11 p.m. tonight.

UP NEXT (MARCH 7):

Pittsburgh will host the Tampa Bay at 1:05 p.m. Monday. David Price is scheduled to pitch for the Rays against the Pirates' Ross Ohlendorf at McKechnie Field. Crotta, Evan Meek, Daniel Moskos, Jose Veras and Tyler Yates are also scheduled to pitch for the Pirates.
