Pirates Set Lineup For Friday Exhibition Vs. SCF

Big league club will open spring season with seven-inning game against Manatees at McKechnie Field.

The Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday announced their lineup for Friday's exhibition game against the State College of Florida baseball team:

1. Corey Wimberley, 2B
2. Chase D'Arnaud, SS
3. Steve Pearce, 1B
4. John Bowker, LF
5. Josh Fields, DH
6. Andy Marte, 3B
7. Andrew Lambo, RF
8. Gorkys Hernandez, CF
9. Wyatt Toregas, C

Pitcher Aaron Thompson will start for the Pirates, followed by Tyler Yates, Jeff Locke, Mike Crotta, Justin Wilson, Kyle McPherson and Rudy Owens.

The game begins at noon Friday at . Tickets are $6, with free admission for students in grades K-12. Proceeds will benefit Manatee County schools through the Manatee Education Foundation.

Students from Rogers Garden Elementary will attend the game. , a fifth-grade student at Braden River Elementary will perform the national anthem in sign language, and Manatee County Schools Superintendent Tim McGonegal will throw out the first pitch.
