Philip Travis, an associate professor at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF), recently was featured on a national Cold War history podcast. The podcast, titled "From the Cold War to the War on Terrorism" includes information from Travis’s book, "Reagan's War on Terrorism in Nicaragua," as well as current events related to the issue of terrorism and U.S. foreign policy.

The podcast is part of a series, "Origins: Current Events in Historical Perspective" and is hosted by Ohio State University and Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. It brings together a panel of experts to discuss current events in historical perspective. Travis, who earned his doctorate degree in history from Washington State University, talked about how President Ronald Reagan’s administration was able to redefine insurgents and terrorist groups and how that affects U.S. foreign policy today.

The podcast is available at origins.osu.edu/historytalk/cold-war-war-terror. It also is available on National Public Radio’s website under the History Talk from Origins podcast directory and on iTunes.
