Sarasota Man Hit, Killed By Car While Crossing Road: Police

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — A Sarasota man died early Tuesday morning when he was struck by a car while crossing a Manatee County road.

The crash happened shortly after 6 a.m. on 15th Street East just south of 63rd Avenue, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Police said the 47-year-old man was attempting to cross 15th Street when he walked into the path of a car driven by a 29-year-old Bradenton woman.

Police said the car — which was traveling north on 15th Street East at the time of the crash — collided with the man.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
