Scam Promotes Fake Sale Of Palmetto Police Hoodies: PPD

PALMETTO, FL — A new text message scam targeting cell phone users promotes fake sales of Palmetto Police Department hoodies, according to a Facebook post from the agency.

The department shared an example of the phishing scam, which offers $10 off the sale of a Palmetto police hoodie and asks them to open a link in the text.

The Palmetto Police Department is warning the community that this is a scam and possibly a plight to infect your device with a virus,” police wrote on Facebook.

The agency warned, “Do not click on the link or hit reply, just delete the text.”
