Philip Travis, a history professor at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF), is launching a “Lectures in History” series with Manatee Educational Television (METV), focusing on important moments in history. The first lecture, to be filmed Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. in Room 210 at the Library & Learning Center, 5840 26th St. W., Bradenton, will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War, on Nov. 11, 1918.

Each of the lectures will be from Travis’ class syllabus. Travis will offer another episode the following month on the 50th anniversary of the height of the Vietnam War. Filming for these lectures are a classroom event, but Travis will accommodate special guests who wish to attend. There are a limited number of seats, so all reservations are on a first-come, first served basis.

To attend, guests must email Travis at TravisP@SCFedu. For more information on SCF’s academic programs, visit SCF.edu/Academics.
