SCF, Manatee-Sarasota to Offer Enrolled Agent Course, Exams

State College of Florida, Manatee Sarasota (SCF) will offer an enrolled agent course for tax preparers. Classes begin in August at SCF Lakewood Ranch, 7131 Professional Parkway East. The course costs $1,100 and includes materials.

Enrolled agent status is the highest credential the IRS awards. Enrolled agents, like attorneys and certified public accountants (CPAs), have broad practice rights. The course is designed to help students pass a rigorous three-part exam to earn the designation. The exam tests students in all aspects of taxation.

Classes, which are held 6-9 p.m., are broken up into three sections that correlate with the test. An online orientation will be offered Aug. 15.

Representation, taxes and procedures, Aug. 22 and 29

Individuals, Sept. 12, and 19 and Oct. 3, 10, 17 and 24;

Business Oct. 31 and Nov. 7, 14 and 28 and Dec. 5, 12 and 19.
