SCF, Manatee-Sarasota to Offer Paralegal/Legal Assisting Certification Examination

SCF will administer the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) Certified Legal Assistant/Paralegal (CLA/CP) examination in January.

State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will administer the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) Certified Legal Assistant/Paralegal (CLA/CP) examination in January at the PSI Authorized Testing Center at SCF Lakewood Ranch, 7131 Professional Parkway E.

Students may choose an exam time from the following schedule: 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays, 3 to 7 p.m. Thursdays, or 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. To register, go to nala.org/examinee.aspx, then schedule appointments by calling the PSI Candidate Service Center at 1-800-733-9267 or visiting psiexams.com.

The NALA CLA/CP certification, a nationally recognized certification for legal assistants and paralegals, is acknowledged by the legal community as a sign of professionalism and competence. Lawyers delegate to paralegals many tasks, which may include helping to prepare for real estate closings, interviews, hearings, mediation, trials and corporate meetings, and draft correspondence and pleadings. Employment opportunities exist in government, private law practices, corporate offices, title companies and real estate agencies.
