SCF Venice to Host Free Screening of “I Am a Girl”
SCF will host a free screening of the documentary "I Am a Girl" Wednesday, March 28, 6-8 p.m., Room 307 in the library at SCF Venice.

State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will host a free screening of the documentary “I Am a Girl” Wednesday, March 28, 6-8 p.m., Room 307 in the library at SCF Venice, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail. The film screening will be in partnership with Terry Brackett, the director of the Through Women’s Eyes Film Festival, who will speak about the goals of the annual festival.
The 2014 documentary, directed by Rebecca Barry, follows six girls from countries around the world and the challenges they face because of their gender. The film was nominated for several Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards.
International Women’s Day is recognized in March and highlights the challenges women and girls face while pushing for progress. The annual Through Women’s Eyes Sarasota Festival showcases films about women and raises money for the United States National Committee for UN Women. Festival merchandise will be for sale in support of committee projects.
