School honor group aids hurricane victims
Lakewood Ranch High School's National Honor Society raised money and bought supplies to help storm victims

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) - LRHS English teacher and National Honor Society (NHS) Adviser Tracy Gregory and NHS members have gathered donations for hurricane relief around the coastal areas.
Gregory states, “After the severe flooding from Tropical Storm Debby, the NHS officers were eager to help in any way they could. After seeing the devastation on Anna Maria Island and other coastal areas, we knew this was our opportunity to help the community.”

Due to their participation in SnapRaise fundraisers, NHS was able to use the donations to place orders for items requested from the community, as well as receiving other donations from Mustangs and staff on campus.

“There is a local community member who started a Facebook group to help those affected by Helene. Since Hurricane Milton, the size of this group has increased significantly with those needing assistance,” Gregory stated.
According to the NHS website, “NHS chapters operate in all 50 states and many schools around the world, engaging and serving more than 1.4 million students.”
