Search Continues for Duct-Taped Dog's Owner
Police in Connecticut are looking for the former Florida resident after a photo appeared on Facebook.

The case of a chocolate Labrador retriever whose image appeared in a Facebook post over the weekend has been officially handed over by Florida officials to those in Avon, Conn.
When Facebook user Katie Brown posted a picture of her dog with its snout duct-taped shut, the image sparked outrage. Since Brown listed her hometown as South Daytona, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office found itself flooded with calls, emails and messages about the alleged animal abuse. That agency turned the case over to the South Daytona Police Department. The city now says Brown’s family members have “confirmed that she has not lived in South Daytona for about 1.5 years.”

With that confirmation in hand, “SDPD … is turning this case over to Avon authorities” where Brown’s family members say she now lives, the city reported on Facebook.
The Avon Police Department has now issued a statement in regard to the case and also noted an “outpouring of telephone calls and e-mails” about the case.

“The Avon Police Department is continuing our investigation of this incident, including pursuit of all leads in the case,” the statement from Chief Mark Rinaldo said. “We are also actively working with the South Daytona (Florida) Police Department and other law enforcement agencies to locate Katie Brown, determine the status of her dog and ascertain the correct jurisdiction of this incident.”
It is currently unclear what charges, if any, Brown will face.
