See '42nd Street' Live In Manatee County

The Manatee School for the Performing Arts is bringing the musical to its stage over the next two weekends.

PALMETTO, FL — Fans of live musical performances have several chances to see “42nd Street” live right in Manatee County. The Manatee School for the Arts is presenting the popular production over the next two weekends.

The musical celebrates the allure of New York’s famous Broadway and the people who make its shows come to life.

“It focuses on aspiring chorus girl Peggy Sawyer, and takes us along her journey,” the school explained in an announcement of its upcoming performances. The production features such popular show tunes as “We’re In the Money,” “Lullaby of Broadway,” and “Forty-Second Street,” among others.

Performances are scheduled for Thursday through Saturday, April 14-16, and again on Thursday and Friday, April 21-22. All performances are set to start at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 for students, teachers and seniors. General admission seats are $10. Tickets are available the school’s front desk during normal hours or at the box office one hour before each show starts. The school is located at 700 Haben Blvd. in Palmetto.
