Sneaker Could Help Detectives Identify Body: Manatee County Sheriff

The only item found with a badly decomposed body on the shore of Rattlesnake Key was a Nike sneaker, the Manatee County sheriff said.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL β€” Detectives hope that a sneaker will help identify the body recovered from the shore of Rattlesnake Key Sunday morning, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The body was badly decomposed and the sneaker was one of the only articles found with it.

The victim was wearing a size 11 men’s black and neon green Nike Free Trainer and a white ankle-high athletic sock, the sheriff’s office said.

An autopsy by the Medical Examiner’s office was inconclusive on the sex and race of the victim.

Because of how advanced the body’s decomposition is, further testing is needed to determine the victim’s age and to gather DNA.
