Southeast Girls' Rally Stunted In Regional Final Loss

Down 28-12 at halftime in the Class 3A-Region 3 final Saturday, Seminoles take a 45-41 lead early in the fourth quarter but fall short to Tampa Catholic.

Southeast High's season ended Saturday when it fell to Tampa Catholic 61-55 in the Class 3A-Region 3 girls basketball final.

Southeast trailed by 16 at halftime before its full-court defense created turnovers and led the Seminoles to a 45-41 lead early in the fourth quarter.

But Tampa Catholic point guard Meghan Keough was too much for the Noles, finishing with 23 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

Mariah Dowdell led Southeast with 15 points, including three 3-pointers.

Lacey Houston added 14 points for the Noles (25-5).

Tampa Catholic (26-4), meanwhile, has 23 straight wins and will make its third consecutive state final four appearance.
