Stepfather Shot At By Teen Stepson, Friend: Bradenton Police

A man was shot at by his 18-year-old stepson and the teen's friend in Bradenton on Wednesday morning, police said.

BRADENTON, FL — A Bradenton man was shot at by his teenage stepson and the teen’s friend Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Both teens — a 15-year-old and an 18-year-old — were arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, according to a Bradenton Police Department news release.

Rodney Dunbar, the 18-year-old suspect, is the stepson of the victim. The victim is currently divorcing Dunbar’s mother, police said.

Police responded to reports of a shooting in the 700 bock of 10th Avenue W. around 9:20 a.m.

The victim told investigators that “he exchanged words in passing” with the teens outside his home.

The suspects continued walking by the home and each fired once at the victim, who was uninjured, police said.

Around 11 a.m., detectives found the suspects in the 500 block of 11th Avenue W. and they were identified by the victim.

Rogers Garden Elementary was briefly on lockdown during the investigation, police said.
