Student Threatened Shooting At Manatee High School: Bradenton Police

A Manatee High School junior faces charges after making a gun violence threat against the school on Snapchat, Bradenton police said.

BRADENTON, FL — Charges are pending against a Manatee High School student who made a “veiled threat” related to gun violence against the school on social media, according to a Bradenton Police Department news release.

Late Thursday night, the FBI received an anonymous tip about the student, a junior at the high school, alleging they made a school shooting threat on Snapchat, police said.

Officers and federal partners went to the school Friday before the start of the day. A Bradenton police school resource officer assigned to Manatee High School identified the student, who was detained before going to class, the department said. No weapons were found on them.

The student admitted to posting — and later deleting — the threat on social media, BPD said. “However, all threats of this nature are taken seriously.”

Additional information about the pending charges isn’t available, yet, the agency said.
